OCCTO, KPX, and ONS now rank alongside US ISOs, EU zones, Great Britain, and Taiwan on a single real-time renewable-share scale
## Global Grid Coverage Crosses Five Continents
Japan (OCCTO), South Korea (KPX), and Brazil (ONS) joined the DC Hub grid scoreboard this week—bringing the live renewable-share index to **13 national and regional grids across five continents**, all ranked on a single, continuously-refreshed scale.
The expansion places APAC's two largest AI build corridors and Latin America's dominant hyperscale market beside the seven US ISOs, six EU zones, Great Britain's NESO, and Taiwan's Taipower. Every grid updates on the same 15-minute telemetry cycle, eliminating the quarterly-PDF lag that has constrained cross-border siting decisions.
## What It Means for Cross-Border Site Selection
Hyperscalers running multi-region RFPs can now compare renewable penetration, load headroom, and constraint risk in São Paulo, Seoul, and Tokyo the same way they compare ERCOT, PJM, and CAISO—**one API call, no key required**. Brazil's ONS frequently runs above 80% renewable share (hydro-dominated); South Korea's KPX tracks in the mid-30s (nuclear + LNG base); Japan's OCCTO oscillates between 20–40% depending on solar output and regional interconnection flows.
The scoreboard is live at **dchub.cloud/playground** via `get_grid_scoreboard`. It returns current renewable share, 7-day average, and rank for every tracked grid. The data updates every 15 minutes from source ISO/TSO APIs—no aggregation delay, no manual refresh.
## Why This Matters Now
As AI training and inference workloads globalize, renewable-share variance across grids is no longer a compliance footnote—it's a **capital-allocation wedge**. A 50-point renewable-share delta between two otherwise-comparable markets translates to materially different PPA pricing, Scope 2 reporting, and long-term regulatory risk. The scoreboard makes that delta visible in real time, not in hindsight.
