**Three takeaways for site-selection and capital-allocation teams:**
- **Speed premium.** Amazon's paired deals—one gigawatt-scale, one tactical fill-in—demonstrate the hyperscalers' ability to close large blocks and small parcels simultaneously, a flexibility few merchant developers can replicate.
- **Public developer squeeze.** Aligned and other merchant builders are writing $500 million checks to compete for the same interconnection positions, grid feeds, and long-lead transformers that AWS and Meta can lock with balance-sheet speed. The margin for slower capital is narrowing.
- **Grid constraint arbitrage.** The same 48 hours saw **Cheyenne, WY** (WECC) and **Rural SPP, KS** hold excess-power scores of **69.5** and **67.2** in the DC Hub Power Index—both well above the ISO median of ~45.
