The Data Center Gas Index

The gas analog to DCPI. Every US state scored on natural-gas suitability for siting AI data-center power load. Grid interconnect queues run 5–7 years — so behind-the-meter gas is increasingly how AI capacity actually gets energized this decade. No one else scores the gas behind the grid.

⚡ The other half of the story
See the power story → DC Hub Power Index (DCPI)

Gas is how capacity gets energized when the grid can’t. DCPI scores the grid itself — where the interconnection queue is dead and where stranded excess power is hiding in plain sight across U.S. markets.

📋 Methodology

DCGI = 0.60 × Gas Access + 0.40 × Gas Cost. Gas Access blends pipeline density, midstream-operator diversity and interstate share (the EIA geofeed publishes no per-segment throughput, so this is a relative infrastructure-presence index). Gas Cost inverts the latest industrial / electric-power delivered gas price ($/Mcf). Verdicts: GAS-ADVANTAGED (dcgi ≥ 62 & access ≥ 50), ADEQUATE (dcgi ≥ 42), GAS-CONSTRAINED (below). 🛢️ Midstream Operator Registry

Parent midstream companies mapped to the FERC pipeline entities they operate, with live segment counts. The value-add no one else publishes: which megacap actually controls the gas under this market.
