This index was withdrawn for 22 days after an internal audit found two of its three terms measurably wrong. All three defects are repaired: the interstate-share term was case-blind and scored ~0 for every state (122 → 17,571 segments counted); the price was picked by a non-deterministic tie-break across two non-comparable EIA series; and nine states including Texas were scored on a hardcoded constant because the loader was dropping them on a case-sensitive name lookup. The cost scale was then recalibrated to the electric-power series it now reads. Scores published before 2026-08-08 are not comparable to these. Full record: methodology → corrections.

Gas is how capacity gets energized when the grid can’t. DCPI scores the grid itself — where the interconnection queue is dead and where stranded excess power is hiding in plain sight across U.S. markets.
DCGI = 0.60 × Gas Access + 0.40 × Gas Cost. Gas Access blends pipeline density, midstream-operator diversity and interstate share (the EIA geofeed publishes no per-segment throughput, so this is a relative infrastructure-presence index).
